Sarah is an avid fan of living green. From her energy and space efficient interior designs to her selections of environmentally friendly fabrics and materials, Sarah puts green solutions at the top of her priority list.

Her most recent project, Sarah's cottage, that she completed with her husband - and design lab owner - Alexander, embodies this commitment. The cottage is located on Georgian Bay and has been run completely off-grid with solar panels since 1998. Since then, Sarah and Alexander have tried to use every avenue to minimize their carbon footprint. They have no electric lights, water is pumped using a highly efficient DC pump, many materials in the cottage have been reused from other buildings (such as windows, doors, trim, etc.) and they have planted over 50% of the trees on the island.

The cottage offers many of the comforts of home and all powered by the sun!
